This special release recorded at the legendary Tuff Gong studio in Kingston is the first ever release featuring Alpha School of Music students.
With the first pressing selling out in days at the 2023 Supernova International Ska Festival, Jamaican music fans should not wait to have their piece of music history and a modern view of foundation Jamaican music just as it was about to take off.
Side A features the Alpha School Band interpretation of the iconic ska anthem, "Eastern Standard Time", originally a Studio One anthem by the Skatalites and a favourite of Alpha's Sister Ignatius. On Side B Alpha plays the original Jamaican mento, "Rukumbine" which is given a classic 1960s arrangement by Alpha band director Peter Ashbourne.
The release includes a 4-page insert describing the unique project and the musicians involved.
